Committee for Women in in Mathematics (WM)², the World Meeting for Women in Mathematics, is organized every four years since 2018 by IMU’s CWM as a satellite event of ICM.

Plenary lecturers

The (WM)² 2022 program features four plenary lectures, taking place on line on July 1 from 2 to 6 pm CEST=UTC+2.

The plenary lecturers are :

Mina Aganagic

Mina Aganagić is Professor of Mathematics and Physics at the University of California, Berkeley (USA). She received her PhD from the California Institute of Technology in 1999. She applies string theory to various problems in pure mathematics, including enumerative geometry, representation theory, geometric Langlands, and knot theory. Mina is originally from Sarajevo, in the former Yugoslavia. She received a Simons Investigator Award, and she was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society, both in 2016. She is an invited speaker at the 2022 vICM.

Eugenia Malinnikova

Eugenia Malinnikova is professor of mathematics at Stanford University (USA). She earned her PhD in 1999 from St. Petersburg State University and for many years she worked at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim (Norway). Eugenia received a Clay Research Award in 2017. Her research areas are spectral geometry and harmonic analysis. Among Eugenia’s many achievements are three gold medals at International Mathematical Olympiads and election to the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters. She was an invited speaker at the 2018 ICM in Rio and 2020 ECM in Portorož.

Natalia Maslova

Natalia Vladimirovna Maslova

Natalia Maslova is Professor of Mathematics at the Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and is a leading researcher at both the Krasovskii Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the Ural Mathematical Center. She defended her PhD Thesis in 2011 at Krasovskii Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics UB RAS, and  her DSci Thesis (Doctor Habil.) in 2019 at Sobolev Institute of Mathematics SB RAS. Natalia's research focuses on arithmetical properties of finite groups and graphs. She is a winner of the Competition of young scientists of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region (the Prize of 2012 for the best work in Mathematics), has a number of other honors and awards, among them the Grand Prix of the Ural “Female Face of Science 2021” competition.

Maryna Sergiivna Viazovska

Maryna Viazovska is Chair of Number Theory at the Institute of Mathematics of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland. She obtained her PhD in 2013 in Bonn. Maryna is a Ukrainian mathematician known for her work in sphere packing, number theory and harmonic analysis. In 2016, she received the Salem Prize and, in 2017, the Clay Research Award and the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize for her work on sphere packing and modular forms. She was awarded a 2018 New Horizons Prize in Mathematics and she was an invited speaker at the 2018 ICM. In Rio. She is one of the 2020 winners of the EMS Prize. She was awarded the Field Medal on July 5 2022.
